CPES Conference and Exposition: The Future of Energy: What’s the Deal? October 17, Connecticut
Event Description
The Connecticut Power and Energy Society (CPES) will host its 18th annual signature conference and exposition for business and energy professionals. This year’s event, titled: “The Future of Energy: What’s the Deal?” will build upon nearly two decades of dialogue about the electricity marketplace, but with an eye toward the future.
The conference will feature a keynote address from the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection and a plenary panel with perspectives from leading executives of major utilities serving customers in Connecticut and the broader New England and Northeast markets.
Rob Klee is the Commissioner of Connecticut’s Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP). Commissioner Klee was appointed by Governor Dannel P. Malloy in January 2014.
DEEP is the state agency charged with conserving, improving and protecting the state’s natural resources and environment, providing first-rate outdoor recreation opportunities, and bringing cheaper, cleaner, and more reliable energy to Connecticut’s residents and businesses. DEEP is focused on integrating energy and environmental policies and helping Connecticut to build a sustainable and prosperous 21st-century economy.
Commissioner Klee joined DEEP in April 2011 as Chief of Staff. In that role he oversaw the work of the agency, supported the efforts of the Commissioner, and advised the Commissioner and senior staff on a wide range of environmental and energy policy issues.
Mary Sotos - Deputy Commissioner Energy
Mary Sotos is the Deputy Commissioner for Energy at the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP). She was appointed to this position in February, 2017.
As the Energy Deputy, Mary is responsible for the development and implementation of energy policies designed to bring cheaper, cleaner, and more reliable power to Connecticut’s families and businesses – and integrating these efforts with a 21st century approach to regulating and directing the state’s electric, natural gas, and water utilities.
