Event Description

Achieving Zero Net Energy by leveraging building controls and demand response

Sponsored by SDG&E Energy Innovation Center
Session Overview: This session discusses the process of starting a demand response project and ongoing operations within the facility operations and energy management context. Learn how the University of Hawaii campus became a shining example of strategies to be taken to meet lofty 100% renewable energy goals by starting with energy efficiency and building controls first. This session will also point to how these strategies can be a guiding example to meet California’s 2030 goals for existing buildings to be retrofit to Zero Net Energy.

Key learning objectives are:

Discover the steps to be taken to meet Zero Net Energy goals for an existing building.
Learn how a portfolio of buildings and campus can incorporate integrated demand response strategies.

Learn about how education was incorporated into a campus project, so the students could gain hands-on project experience.

This class is eligible for continuing education units from the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI) and the American Institute of Architects (AIA).
