Event Description

The increasing frequency and severity of climate disasters around the globe is a great challenge for society, academics, and policy makers. To mitigate climate change, members of Congress have proposed a Green New Deal -- a host of economic policies aimed at tackling climate change from the creation of sustainable jobs to pollution reduction.

Join SCEPA for a presentation, workshop, and panel discussion on climate disasters and the Green New Deal featuring:

  • Economics Professor Stephanie Kelton, Stony Brook University
  • Economics Professor Claudia Kemfert, German Institute of Economic Research
  • Science Professor and Institute of Earth, Ocean & Atmospheric Sciences Director Bob Kopp, Rutgers University
  • Economics Professor and Chair of Financial Econometrics Stefan Mittnik, Ludwig Maximilians University of Munich

The Schwartz Center for Economic Policy Analysis (SCEPA) is the economic research arm of The New School for Social Research. Each year the center hosts economic policy workshops, publishes topical policy notes, and sponsors newsworthy lectures by top economists and financial leaders. These activities influence key national and international policy debates and help advance the best aims of economic justice.
