Designing Climate Resilience Forum, October 5, 2018, Boston, MA
Event Description
In the first of two forums exploring resiliency and adaptation, the Boston Society of Architects/AIA (BSA) and the Boston Green Ribbon Commission (GRC) are partnering to explore the importance of designing for climate resilience at a districtwide scale. The series will begin with a presentation by Carly Foster of Arcadis, planner for Climate Ready South Boston. The forum also provides an opportunity to hear from Senior Waterfront Planner, Chris Busch, about the Boston Planning Development Agency’s (BPDA) efforts to implement flood zoning overlay districts and to create resiliency design guidelines for new and existing residential buildings.
During the October 5 event, presenters from the architecture profession will also use case studies to talk about best practices for site specific interventions that work well with neighborhood-wide plans. The panel will focus on district-wide approaches to climate adaptation that are relevant throughout the Greater Boston area where sea level rise and increased flooding due to climate change are forcing us to think, design and plan better.
There will be breakfast served at this event.
