Event Description

This training allows attendees to develop several specific energy reduction projects from conception to financial benefit analysis. Energy audit tasks that are conducted using videos, photographs and other resources include interpreting nameplate data, taking measurements with simple hand tools, identifying efficiency opportunities, using datalogger and other data to ascertain equipment run hours, and calculating annual energy savings. Training participants will use billing data to create normalized graphs and calculate blended rates. After estimating the measure cost and looking up the relevant utility incentives, participants will calculate return on investment. Labor and maintenance savings will also be considered. This one-day program serves as a hands-on follow-up to PG&E's (3-Day) Energy Auditing Techniques for Small and Medium Commercial facilities class. In addition to attending the 3-day Energy Auditing class, training participants are encouraged to have a minimal proficiency in MS Excel since most of the in-class calculations are done in Excel. They do offer a one-day “Basic Excel for Energy Professionals” class for people who wish to polish their Excel skills before attending the “Audit Skills” training. they will distribute the required files for this training before the class begins through a Box site.
