Smart Data Summit for Energy Optimization
Event Description

Smart Data for Energy Optimizationis designed as a senior level educational and networking summit and a highly interactive forum that provides an interchange of in depth knowledge and serves as a catalyst for collaboration across large built environments that share the common goals of:

Integrating smart, data-driven capabilities in a usable way to help support energy optimization goals throughout the design, build, retrofit and maintenance phases. These sectors include Higher Education,  Hospitals and Healthcare Systems, Corporate Campuses/ Large Buildings, and Federal Facilities.

The two-day agenda offers senior level panels, plenary sessions (no tracks!), 5 hours of dedicated networking and live technology and solution demonstrations onsite.

  • Agenda
    • Topics inclide:

-Establishing the end goals of facility, campus and building stakeholders towards their energy ecosystems. What are the desired outcomes that stakeholders are trying to achieve and why /how would a digital solution support these goals?

-Who are the key offices and stakeholders that are bringing brought together internally for decision making regarding the business model, financial investment and implementation strategy needed for new data-driven capabilities to support energy optimization?

-How do we choose what and where to digitize given our current Master Plans / Operations that include a mix of old and new build ? What do we expect a “smart” building to achieve?

-Workforce training : considerations and planning to ensure current workforce can and will utilize digital solutions in an effective and efficient manner

-Understanding industries’ emerging business models: from “as-a-service” models to cloud hosted, IDL or single pane of glass options.

-CRE: Utilizing data - centric tools in CRE to support energy optimization. What insight or process improvements are we trying to achieve? What is our approach to avoid drowning in meaningless data as we begin to apply more advanced digital capabilities to our buildings.

-How the AEC community is (or would like) to use advanced data capabilities in the early design, engineering and construction phases related to supporting the energy optimization needs of their clients: from upgrading legacy systems to developing new ‘smart’, experiential driven, net-zero buildings and facilities

      Technical Focus:

-How far can the data currently take us? Honest broker conversations on what current digital solutions can really do for energy optimization and where are the operational impediments? What does an “AI” capability in energy management mean?

-Cyber security strategy: what you need to have in place in order to improve resiliency and security of connected data systems. What customers need to require from their vendors and what data governance processes should owners ensure are in place?

-How to measure system level energy use and carbon emissions to better inform ESG strategy and operational goals

-What is the operating backbone needed to integrate new solutions into current digital and physical infrastructures: how to converge ‘energy data’ with other building data including workplace management

-Data scientist perspective: How far can the data currently take us? What does a digital system need to include in order to really do meaningful levels of predictive or perspective analytics to support energy optimization? What does “AI /ML” really mean in this context?

-Data governance: Who owns and accesses the data, and where should the data reside and why?

-How to make data user friendly: bringing together large, disparate data sources across assets for real time visualization: what do users really need to “see” (and not) in order to make informed decisions and ensure their use of the system?

-Digitals twins for energy optimization in facilities: what, why, and how

-Data driven asset performance, predictive maintenance and health analytics: what capabilities and techniques do you need for real-time processing for incident detection and/or prevention and post incident response analysis.
