Tiny House Design will help you envision and design an enriching small home on a foundation or on wheels.
Yestermorrow Design/Build School willll virtually tour noteworthy houses, spark a dialogue about space-saving strategies, and engage in an imaginative process with lots of interactive design exercises. In the "design studio" you’ll learn a variety of tools to help you communicate your ideas. Students completing this course will have the skills necessary to continue work on their own small home projects. Bring your curiosity, enthusiasm, and project ideas!
The course includes the following components:
Real-Time Class: We'll have a series of weekly 2-hour video sessions via zoom for content and pin-ups. Video calls will include inspiration and idea sharing as we explore tiny home considerations and the design process. Each session will include show and tell, activities, and discussions so you can share with and learn from your classmates.
On Your Own Time Class: You'll have access to pre-recorded presentations and tutorials you can review on your own timeframe between sessions. You'll go on virtual tours of small spaces that will introduce you to utility considerations and space saving design tricks.
Challenges: Each session you'll have a challenge to complete to move your tiny house project forward in your virtual design studio. You'll do some design exercises and bubble diagramming and learn how to represent your ideas through sketches, tangible models, digital models, elevations, sections, and/or plans.
Individualized Attention: Weekly 20-minute 1:1 sessions will be held with instructors so you can have personalized attention focused on your design, your questions, and your specific situation.
Virtual Studio Time: Additional Studio Times will be available where you can stop in on zoom to ask questions.
