What’s New in the 2020 NYC Energy Code is a free 90-minute online class designed to cover the major updates in the 2020 NYCECC and how it relates to NYC’s Local Law 97. This class is recommended for a range of design and building professionals, from principals to expediters.

By the end of this course, participants will:

  • Identify specific provisions that need attention to due to increased stringency;
  • Recognize the changes in the 2020 NYCECC that will have a substantial effect on how buildings are designed and constructed;
  • Understand the relationship between the 2020 NYCECC and the carbon cap for building energy required under NYC LL97;
  • Understand the rationale behind the eventual transition from energy to carbon regulation.

Each What’s New in the NYC Code online course is live and interactive, led by a certified instructor with more than seven years of professional building or design experience, a passion for sustainability, and in-depth knowledge of the green building industry.

      Kohler Ronan is a multi-disciplined engineering consultancy providing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and technology design, as well as comprehensive energy analysis, sustainable design, and commissioning services. Madhav is an experienced energy modeling expert focused on the application of building performance simulation and analysis for architectural design and systems optimization. He has a B.Arch from the University of Mumbai and a MS in Building Science from Arizona State University and holds BEMP and LEED AP BD+C certifications.
