Greenbuild L.A. Material Health Summit: Beyond the Tipping Point - Friday, October 7, 1:30 -4:30pm
Event Description
Greenbuild L.A. Material Health Summit
Material Health Summit: Beyond the Tipping Point
Friday, October 7th, 1:30pm -4:30pm
The BOLD Room
958 S Broadway
Los Angeles, CA 90015
Question: What do you get when you combine the most forward-thinking leaders on material health, a great venue in L.A., great food and drink, and a series of “what if?” conversations facilitated to generate fresh collisions of ideas?
Answer: The Greenbuild L.A. Material Health Summit.
Designers are now commonly requesting transparency data from manufacturers through Declare, HPDs and other platforms and manufacturers are not only listening but also reformulating their products. The growth of these platforms is rapidly driving down the cost of Living Building Challenge Materials Petal certification and reducing the time and effort to achieve aligned credits in LEED v4 and WELL. We have clearly crossed a tipping point and the building products industry will never be the same.
However, challenges remain:
Rigorous attention to materials selection is still perceived as an added cost that’s only feasible for some projects, and not enough practitioners have the skills and experience for this work to be done at scale.
Designers and manufacturers remain reluctant partners at best, and adversaries at worst, slowing change.
The risk-averse building industry continues to reward status-quo products and materials.
Many of the biggest challenges we face, such as carbon-neutral or carbon-sequestering building materials, remain unsolved.
Leave Greenbuild energized and inspired by joining us for this fast paced, interactive and engaging summit. We’ll set the stage with 5-minute presentations on key topics from industry leaders. But the heart of the event will be mixing and mingling with leaders and other forward thinking attendees as we engage in lightly facilitated conversations designed to bring forward fresh solutions and collaborative opportunities. We’ll take time to enjoy the best food and drink that L.A. has to offer while debriefing on Greenbuild highlights and plotting the movement’s agenda for 2017.
Topics to be covered include: Transparency and Open Data, Carbon Take Back, Program Alignment between LEED Well and LBC, next Generation Bio-Based and Grown Materials, Strategies for Achieving LBC, and others as determined by attendees.
This unique event will be held in in Downtown LA just minutes walk from the convention center and closing keynote.
