Policies and Strategies to Catalyze Attainable Housing
Development tensions in metro Atlanta continue to reveal how the challenges of significant energy burden and development displacement adversely affect vulnerable communities. Hear what Atlanta’s development leaders can do to move the market towards greater attainable housing.
Aligning Corporate Tenants and Property Managers for Corporate Sustainability Goals
Corporate sustainability reporting has long driven GHG inventorying and goal setting for the world’s leading companies. Many such companies are meeting their initial targets ahead of schedule and doubling down with next-level commitments. In this session we’ll review some of the partnerships, programs and tactics that corporations are using to drive sustainability and carbon drawdown throughout their supply chain, including their leased corporate real estate holdings.
Residential Energy Code Overview
Participants will learn detailed prescriptive standards for various climate zones within Georgia, including those for insulation requirements throughout the building thermal envelope. Participants will also learn about the Simulated Performance, Energy Rating Index (ERI) and UA Alternative as alternate compliance pathways.
11:00 am – 12:00 pm
Regenerative Design
Designing for Resilience and Efficiency
As the population in Atlanta continues to grow, and the effects of climate change increase, resilient and efficient housing becomes a critical component of a regenerative economy in the Southeast. Hear from speakers who are currently working on affordable solutions for high-performance homes.
Optimizing Workplaces for Productivity and Health
While more attention has been paid to the impact of design on well-being and productivity, such practices have yet to become mainstream standards in commercial design. This panel will discuss strategies in new and existing work environments.
Commercial Energy Code Overview
Participants will learn about possible compliance options (including ASHRAE 90.1, prescriptive or performance paths). Participants will also learn basic requirements for building envelopes and mechanical systems, as well as new requirements for Existing Buildings (2015 IECC, Chapter 5).

1:30 – 2:00 pm, Overview and Introduction to Drawdown Georgia
The Drawdown Georgia project aims to identify the most promising solutions to significantly reduce Georgia’s net carbon emissions by 2030. The approach involves (1) understanding Georgia’s baseline carbon footprint and trends, (2) identifying the most impactful Georgia-specific carbon-reduction solutions based on Drawdown Georgia’s global framework, (3) estimating the greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction potential of these high-impact 2030 solutions for Georgia, and (4) highlighting costs and benefits of these solutions, including how they impact societal priorities beyond carbon. These high-impact 2030 solutions provide an evidence-based pathway for reducing the state’s carbon footprint in the next decade using market-ready technologies and practices. Ultimately, the goal is to inspire a transformational vision that will motivate households, businesses, neighborhoods, municipalities, and leaders across the state to take advantage of opportunities that exist today and in the near future to reduce their carbon footprints.
