Urban Green NY posted a blog post talking about some of the topics that were discussed during High Rise, Low Impact. There were two aspects to the presentation of how to make the building of high rises greener: the design and the materials.

Many state the design phase of a building as the most crucial time to implement environmentally friendly, energy efficient, and sustainable parts to the building. This is when designers and architects can be creative and innovative to find new ways to make buildings more "free" without the hassle of building constrictions.

Then the next important phase is choosing the proper materials that help keep a building safe, clean, and green. For example, did you know that cement production generates a staggering one-tenth of the world’s carbon emissions? Huge amounts of pollution and energy are normally emitted during construction but new technologies are changing that fact for the better.
