ISSP Chicago Area: NCC Sustainability Tour, August 7th, 2018
Event Description
Would you like the opportunity to make real connections with other sustainability professionals in the Chicagoland area? Sign up for ISSP Chicago area’s upcoming sustainability site tour and in-person networking event!
With so many new and emerging opportunities to accelerate sustainability, being connected and sharing ideas is critical to achieving our personal and professional goals. They have arranged an on-site tour highlighting the sustainability efforts at North Central College followed by a no-host networking dinner on August 7, 2018.
Sustainability is creating a world that has a healthy environment, social justice, and a strong economy to meet the needs of the present generation without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
As a teaching institution, North Central has a special responsibility to introduce, support and encourage core sustainability values and actions into all aspects of campus life. Our campus community is actively making smart choices to limit our impact on environmental systems. Not only will these actions enhance the North Central experience for current generations, but they will prepare students for a world that increasingly relies on sound sustainable decision making.
Some of the College’s sustainability efforts you will learn about on the campus tour include solar PV, solar thermal, geothermal, LED lighting, food scrap composting, organic campus garden, rain gardens, and permeable pavers.
