Holyoke Herald completes $2 million solar installation project.
Posted by: NSchepis // Student at Bridgewater State
Holyoke Herald newspaper headquarters complete solar installation project. The $2 million project was funded by investment tax credits.
In 2006, a federal policy known as the Investment Tax Credit was implemented to support the growth of renewable energy in the US. The policy gives companies the confidence to invest in solar installation programs with business certainty. They helped support projects like the Holyoke Heralds commercial rooftop solar project.
The Investment Tax Credit is a tax credit for residential and business solar installation projects. The investment credit was set to 30% but will step down to 10% at the end of 2016. To help increase the capacity for solar power and other renewable sources, state governments need to add polices that give these companies benefits for generating clean energy.
