Thermoelectric Power Generation - Webinar - Alliance for Green Heat, Biomass Thermal Energy Council - 9/21, 10 am
Event Description
Join the Alliance for Green Heat and the Biomass Thermal Energy Council
FREE webinar this Thursday at 10:00 AM:
Thermoelectric Power Generation
The first speaker's, Adam Lorimer, talk is titled, Thermoelectric Heat Recovery - Lessons Learned from Eight Years Developing Oil and Gas and Automotive Applications. Adam will describe the landscape of thermoelectric heat recovery, including what has been achieved by Alphabet Energy and factors impacting applications and market selection. He will then explain a few important technical considerations for developing thermoelectric systems considering materials, thermal resistance matching and power conditioning.
The second speaker's, Professor Jeff Snyder, talk is titled, Thermal and Electrical Design Considerations for a Thermoelectric Generator.
This is the third in a planned webinar series that will focus on various technical and policy issues related to the automation of wood and pellet stoves with sensors and WiFi enabled controls, and the development of thermoelectric wood stoves to power lights, cell phones, and automated controls.
Adam served as the VP and co-founder of Alphabet Energy, and has two decades of experience in the Energy Industry, including with BP Exploration as a Facilities Engineer and Project Manager, Rolls Royce Turbines, British Nuclear Fuels and Shell. He is UK Chartered Engineer with a Masters in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Sheffield and an MBA from the Haas School of Business, UC Berkeley.
Jeff Snyder:
Dr. Snyder is Professor of Materials Science and Engineering at Northwestern University. He was Faculty Associate in Materials Science at Caltech (2006-2015) and a Senior Member of the Technical Staff in the thermoelectrics group at JPL (1997-2006). He received his B.S. in physics, chemistry and mathematics at Cornell University and his Ph.D. in applied physics from Stanford University (1997) where he was a Hertz Fellow. His current research focuses on thermoelectric materials and engineering of thermoelectric devices.
