Workshop: Contracts, Climate, & Compliance, September 14, 8:30-10 AM
Event Description
Join Building Energy Exchange, AIA New York, and ASHRAE New York for a BE-Ex Architect Advisory Council (AAC) workshop focusing on the legal risk and responsibility of high performance design and construction, and how to improve compliance with NYC climate legislation.
New York’s forthcoming predicted energy use code (Local Law 32 of 2018), as well as the groundbreaking building carbon emission limits, of 2019’s Local Law 97, will require fundamental changes to the practice of architecture, and how we design, operate, and construct our buildings. The Building Energy Exchange convened the Architect Advisory Council – 27 leading architects, engineers, and organizational representatives – to determine key areas of climate action for the profession, design & construction.
This workshop follows actionable steps outlined in the Building Energy Exchange Architect Advisory Council vision document, Who Cares About Energy Codes? The Architect’s Guide to New York City’s Aggressive Carbon Reduction Code.
Rocco Giannetti, FAIA, Principal/Managing Director, Gensler
