Daylight and Glare Analysis, Presented by cove.tool,
Event Description

Daylight Modeling is the practice of using 3D simulation software to predict the pattern of natural light used to illuminate the inside a building. Designing for optimal daylight quantity is a critical part of managing your occupant’s health, happiness, and productivity. In this presentation, we will cover the concepts of 3D analysis, climate, and daylight (sDA and ASE) and the financial and social benefits of their achieving daylight targets.

  • Define the concept of spatial daylight autonomy and several other metrics that can be used to anticipate potential issues or take advantage of natural resources
  • Identify the many design decisions that affect the amount and type of daylight that is available to a project and how deeply that daylight travels into a building.
  • Compare the performance of orientation, façade design, self-shading, and context shading in terms of their ability to maximize the amount of usable daylight allowed into the space, provide glare control, preserve views, and achieve daylight autonomy objectives.
  • Showcase case studies that demonstrate the benefit of optimized daylight, glare, views strategies as well as explain the human comfort, productivity levels, energy savings, and financial incentives.
