Free Webinar: Balanced Ventilation for Better Health, Comfort & Energy Efficiency: Systems, Installation, Ducts & Details, November 16, 9am-1pm PT
Event Description
More buildings are being constructed with high-performance building envelopes. For these buildings, a well-designed and installed air quality system is a must. In this class we will look at performance-based design and installation practices that lead to effective ventilation and filtration systems. Examples of completed, high-efficiency systems are presented to show how they were built and commissioned, with instructor Dan Perunko of Balance Point Home Performance sharing lessons learned so others can avoid repeating them.
- Give examples of when an ERV or an HRV are the appropriate choice for a project
- Describe a basic duct layout for a balanced ventilation system
- Detail the major efficiency differences between balanced ventilation equipment
- Summarize the top three duct system characteristics that waste energy and how to minimize them
- Name the three places it is important to have effective filters in ventilation and air quality equipment
- Identify the ideal Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value (MERV) rating for all three of those filters
- Explain the most effective and readily available residential filtration system
- List key installation details necessary to make that filtration system perform effectively
- Recognize the importance of commissioning forced air systems
