Event Description

Solar energy is here now, and this session will make solar energy feel less daunting so you can design the correct solar system, have an actionable strategy, hire the right contractors, and be the hero to annihilate your energy bill.

You want to know…What size solar energy system do you need? How do you know which contractor to trust? Do you need batteries and why? When you understand how a kw of solar power produces kwh savings, you’ll feel like you see the solar energy matrix. We’ll also cover how to size a solar system while keeping the big picture in mind, and how to ensure the knowledge you’ve gained in previous sessions is applied to your solar & storage system design. You’ll be able to identify whether a contractor is accurately estimating savings and how to protect your home when signing an agreement with a contractor.

Attendees will learn:

  • How to choose the right size solar system for your needs
  • Basic solar and storage math so you can design your system with confidence
  • The relationship between energy storage and electric vehicles

    • "Hi, I’m Spencer, aka Your Proud Home Energy Nerd. Although I’ve been I the clean energy industry approaching 20 years and have a laundry list of home energy certifications, and have worn many hats, mostly I want you to know that my greatest asset to you is the fact that I have the practical experience of running my own home energy audit and whole-home upgrade company, Energy Integrity, for approx. 8 years.

I would go into people’s homes, crawl around their attics, remove low-efficiency materials and equipment, seal leaks, upgrade windows, replace ducts, add insulation, upgrade heating + cooling systems, and install solar energy and battery systems. And the results were insane. People couldn’t believe their homes were at a comfortable temperature all year round, and their energy bills were the best they’ve ever looked.

But I knew I wanted to do more than crawl around hot, dirty attics. I wanted to change the way every single homeowner views their home’s energy usage. I wanted people to see the opportunities I saw. So after participated in various rebate and advocacy programs I developed a great relationship local utilities, and started teaching courses on home energy upgrades. It’s taken off as people just love feeling empowered with knowledge for where they spend most of their time. We welcome you to any upcoming courses so you too can become the expert of your home’s energy."
