Free Online Course Introduction to Heat Pumps (Parts 1 & 2), March 5 & March 7, 9 - 11:30 am PT
Event Description
Heat pumps are the most efficient method to not only heat and cool spaces, but to provide domestic water heating in both multifamily and commercial applications. This course explores the composition, operation, and application of heat pumps in building settings. Specifically, this course examines the evolution and versatility of heat pump technology in comfort heating/cooling and domestic hot water applications, successful implementation examples, and essential lessons learned. Furthermore, learners will explore the value of heat pumps, including decarbonization, energy efficiency, and grid stability opportunities.
The objective of this course is that at the conclusion, participants will be able to:
- The "what," "how," and "why" of heat pumps
- Evolution of HP technology
- HP applications
- Heat pumps in domestic water heater applications
- Essential considerations
- Successful case studies
Brian has been an engineer in the Industrial Refrigeration and CHPWH industries since 2007. During this time he has developed a wealth of knowledge on CHPWH equipment, system design, controls and field service. Brian currently operates Culler LLC, providing expert support to CHPWH manufacturers across North America. Brian holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Gonzaga University.
Kristy Podelnyk
Kristy works closely with industry leaders to create curriculum and content around emergent technology and tools. Using dynamic digital learning platforms, she designs, builds, and delivers premier workforce and STEM education. Additionally, Kristy has a diverse background in education, including curriculum development, instructional design, effective active pedagogy, assessment, PBL, and differentiated learning. She is a Nationally Board-Certified teacher (NBPTS) with a Masters in Teaching, dual B.S. in Biochemistry and Botany, and has played a role as lead instructional developer for all things heat pump water heater.
