Event Description
With so many different types of systems and requirements, how do you get what you really want from lighting controls? Lighting experts Shoshanna Segal and Carol Jones explain how designers and architects need to consider the visual environment they are creating as well as the operational characteristics of the systems being installed. These days design teams are often faced with questions about how to create system interoperability and digital integration with adjacent building systems that were not that commonplace previously. Fortunately, tools exist to articulate both the designer's intent and to guide the process to achieve that intent. The development process behind the Control Intent Narrative and the Sequence of Operations provides direction for assembling these documents. This seminar shows you how to use clear and contractually enforceable language in assembling the Control Intent Narrative and the Sequence of Operations.
The objective of this course is that at the conclusion, participants will be able to:
- Introduce to the three controls specification documents
- System dynamics
- Language & getting started: Use cases in brief
- What could possibly go wrong (and a minor rabbit hole)
- How can ANSI/IES LP-16-22 help
- A brief recap
Shoshanna Segal believes in the power of light to make the world a more equitable and accessible place. She uses both the artistic and scientific sides of her brain to illuminate the spaces where people live, work, and learn because this is the way she can effect change for the greatest number of people. Years of professional practice have taught her that lighting provides opportunities to realize synergies among technology, social interaction, and commerce. Ms. Segal practices creating these synergies as a senior designer at Hartranft Lighting Design.
Carol Jones
Carol Jones is a 30+ year veteran of the lighting industry. With a diverse background as a lighting specifier and national lab researcher with controls and luminaire manufacturers ranging from global to startup; the constant is her commitment to innovation and market transformation. She has long been at the forefront of bringing higher value digital lighting into reality and is enthusiastic about how it will change our world for the better. Carol has been a visible, published, and active leader supporting multiple professional associations and environmental policy efforts.
