Material and Resource Summit
Posted by: Steven Fitzgerald // Student/Consultant
Yesterday I had the Opportunity to attend the Materials Summit that was sponsored by the Massachusetts Chapter of the USGBC and Google at the Google Headquarters. Allison Friedman to no surprise was in attendance. There were several manufacturers and companies on the discussion panel.
As the major topic was about Materials, this is a wonderful to take advantage of a free certification in which the Company Fiberlock is offering. Just go to their site www.fiberlock.com and register for the GHS safety data sheet Certificate. it is comprised of 3 20 minute videos and 3- 5 question tests. TRY IT!!

Going to look into this! The summit was on sustainable sourced materials? and all materials? or was there a specific genre of materials (can I classify materials by genre?? haha)

There was a lot of information that was discussed at the summit and it went into detail about HPD's and EPD's of companies. HPD= Health Product Declaration and EPD's = Environmental Product Declarations. A Representative of Harvard and Dana Farber along with a Flooring and Door Manufacturer were there, who talked about their products. There was discussion about the roles of Government and Building designers when deciding what Material to use during the Construction phase of a project. They will be forwarding the presentation and I will be able to share it if you would like.
