Off-Shore Wind in RI and Beyond: The Story of Deep Water Wind, February 12, 12-2pm, Providence, by RENEW Energy Initiative
Event Description
Join Renew Energy Initiative in partnership with the Rhode Island Society of Environmental Professionals in welcoming Jeff Grybowski and colleagues for an update on Deep Water Wind’s work over the past two plus years, and to gauge the status of and prospects for expanding the U.S.’s offshore wind capacity in the coming years.
Mr. Grybowski is the Chief Executive Officer of Deepwater Wind, where he manages the company’s portfolio of offshore wind, solar and transmission projects. He has been intimately involved since its inception in the development of America’s first offshore wind farm, the path-breaking Block Island Wind Farm. The project closed on a $300 million commercial financing in early 2015 and completed construction in the summer of 2016. Deepwater Wind is also developing the 1,000 MW Deepwater ONE site to serve the New England and New York power markets with the next round of US offshore wind projects.
Mr. Grybowski has been at the forefront of shaping both the US commercial structures and governmental policies necessary for this growing industry. His experience includes the negotiation of the critical governmental permits and utility, construction, and financing agreements supporting a first-of-its-kind project in the US. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the American Wind Energy Association.
Mr. Grybowski previously served as Chief of Staff to the Governor of the State of Rhode Island, where he was the Governor’s most senior advisor on all matters of state business. He previously practiced corporate law at Hinckley, Allen & Snyder in Providence, Rhode Island and at Sullivan & Cromwell in New York, New York.
Mr. Grybowski earned an A.B. with Honors in Public Policy from Brown University, a J.D. with High Honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law, and served as a Law Clerk to the Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court for the District of Rhode Island.
