Passive House As An Ecosystem - Webonar
Event Description

Description

Carbon Reduction Goes Beyond the Envelope. Carbon reduction in the Passive House ecosystem involves three distinct systems: the Passive House, the renewable energy components, and the site around the building.

Learning objectives

  1. The Passive House itself includes two related reduction strategies: minimizing energy loads; materials and building methods.
  2. The renewable energy components strategy involves sizing the system for net zero site energy, and the best siting options.
  3. The site strategy, which is typically ignored, involves a "before & after" analysis of the "carbon impact" of the Passive House construction process.
  4. Bioclimatic site design for a "low impact" use of the property after construction, including landscaping, accessory uses and structures, and an environmentally friendly approach to maintenance.
