Event Description

The expansive new river park at SDSU Mission Valley provides the San Diego community with 34-acres of publicly-accessible active and passive recreation space along the San Diego River. The new park includes three multi-use fields, a children's play area, basketball courts, a fitness area, pedestrian and bike trails, picnic tables and more. The river park is part of approximately 80 acres of parks and open space that has been or will be built as part of the redevelopment of the site. Additional park space borders Murphy Canyon Creek which has been restored and revegetated to enhance functionality and protect native species.

      Associate Vice President – SDSU Mission Valley Development

      Gina Jacobs serves as Associate Vice President for the SDSU Mission Valley Development at San Diego State University. She has a leading role in shaping and executing the university’s strategy to develop the Mission Valley site. Gina previously served as Chief of Staff, serving as a senior advisor to the university President and participating in a wide variety of administrative and executive duties, special projects and initiatives.

      Mark Moss
      Principal at Schmidt Design Group

      Mark Moss is a Principal at the Schmidt Design Group, a 41-year-old award-winning landscape architecture and planning firm headquartered in San Diego, CA. Mark holds a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture from the University of Idaho. He joined Schmidt Design Group in 2011 and currently acts as Principal in charge of a team of talented Project Managers and Landscape Designers serving a wide variety of clientele and project types.
