Using Compost and Mulch to Enhance Water Savings, while Meeting California Regulations, June 14, 12-5pm, San Ramon, California
Event Description
The use of compost and mulch is required by two converging California regulations: the Modified Water Efficiency Landscape Ordinance (MWELO) and California Senate Bill (SB 1383). Applying compost and mulch is also a critical cultural practice in landscaping that produces water savings. California jurisdictions are now required to purchase specific volumes of compost and mulch to meet the requirements of SB 1383, however, many of them do not know how to choose the correct products. Further, some agencies are not enforcing the requirements of MWELO. In both cases, professional landscapers, landscape architects, and other stakeholders will be expected to assist their government (and potentially, other) clients meet these important environmental regulations.
The workshop will explain how to better choose SB 1383-eligible and appropriate water-saving products. The training will include:
Learn about regulations, best practices, specification details, sourcing, and application techniques for compost and mulch by attending this half-day, in-person, hands-on workshop. Training will benefit government employees working to implement MWELO and SB 1383, landscape architects, landscape contractors, facility and landscape operations staff, and residential gardeners.
