LEED v4 addresses water holistically, taking into account indoor use, outdoor use, specialized uses and metering. It measures all sources of water related to a building, including cooling towers, appliances, fixtures, fittings, process water, and irrigation.

The speakers provide an overview of the water credits in LEED, differences between v2009 and v4, discuss how water is used in a building and dive deeper into several of the prerequisites and credits including Outdoor water use reduction and Rainwater management

This session will present an overview of resources, strategies as well as tips for successful credit achievement. Attendees will hear from USGBC and GBCI experts about how water is addressed in LEED today as well as future issues regarding water needs and usage.


Objectives:

  • Provide an overview of how LEED v4 addresses water in LEED BD+C, ID+C, O+M, such as prerequisite Indoor water use reduction
  • Review different strategies for achieving the Rainwater credit in LEED v4 BD+C, O+M
  • Identify changes in credits from LEED v2009 and LEED v4 such as the new prerequisite Building-level water metering in LEED v4 O+M
  • Discuss the projections about the future of water usage needs
