Modular design can present many benefits to building owners and developers like faster project completion, quick fixes and updates, and easy customization. The unique adaptability of modular products maximizes the lifecycle of most products.  When combined with the selection of greener and cleaner materials, it’s possible that modularity could be one of the more sustainable techniques available to green building.

When utilizing industrialized tilt-up interior construction, typically about 90% of the walls, doors and materials are reconfigured and re-used or recycled when changes are made to the interior space in the future.

Conventional construction waste is the largest contributor to landfills and single-use construction methods are a major part of the problem.  Up to 10% of all materials shipped to a conventional construction job site never have a useful day of life and wind up in a land fill.  Modular construction greatly reduces waste in the process and can be easily repurposed in the building whereas drywall cannot.  When utilizing conventional interior construction, typically about 90% of construction debris goes to landfills when significant changes are made with future construction projects.

Green Building Alliance invites you to explore sustainability through modularity with Workscape and DIRTT at the former Sokol Club in the South Side of Pittsburgh.

Join Green Building Alliance as representatives from Workscape and DIRTT lead a tour of the recently transformed space, walking us through the project’s diverted waste, avoided carbon emissions, indoor air-quality, healthy products and materials, minimized energy consumption, and pieces of the building’s history that have been cleverly incorporated.  This showroom is “more than just a showcase of products” but is “a testament to dedication to a greener, more stylish future.”

Enjoy a tour, happy hour, Q&A, networking, and light refreshments in the Workscape café.

Please note this event has free and ample parking in the Workscape lot, off of Sarah St.
