Every organization and everyone can submit to Rate It Green's green building calendar! Simply click register, verify your email address, and create a username and password. You can then decide if you'd like to engage more fully as a community member, but you'll be able to post events.
Please make sure to be respectful of the organizations and companies, and other Rate It Green members that make up our community. We welcome praise and advice and even criticism but all posted content and ratings should be constructive in nature. For guidance on what constitutes suitable content on the Rate It Green site, please refer to the User Agreement and Site Rules.
The opinions, comments, ratings and all content posted by member on the Rate It Green website are the comments and opinions of the individual members who posts them only and do not necessarily reflect the views or policies or policies of Rate It Green. Rate It Green Team Members will monitor posted content for unsuitable content, but we also ask for the participation of community members in helping to keep the site a comfortable and open public forum of ideas. Free Outdoor Lighting Workshop, Online, July 23, 9 am - 2:30 pm PT
Event Description
Outdoor lighting is now dominated by use of LEDs and lighting controls as standard practice. LED benefits include better energy efficiency, improved quality of light and environmentally friendly design options. This newly updated outdoor lighting class, reformatted for on-line presentation, will cover best practices for lighting outdoor spaces, including pedestrian walkways, plazas, building entrances, and outdoor retail, sports fields and parking lots. It will cover outdoor lighting standards and codes (IES and Dark Sky and CA Title-24, among others), and address light pollution. Outdoor lighting case studies will illustrate examples and demonstrate results of best practices outdoor lighting design. The workshop wraps up with a design walkthrough lighting an outdoor area around a community park to provide participants a better understanding of how to apply the materials covered in the workshop.
Learning Outcomes:
• Learn to recognize requirements of an outdoor application and practices that produce environment friendly, energy efficient code compliance designs
• Become familiar with specific light fixture characteristics and options associated with outdoor lighting
• Understand Title 24 energy code and other standards for exterior lighting environments and best practices for avoiding light pollution
• Participate in a design walkthrough for an outdoor space that will allow participants to participant to better understand how to apply the recommendations and requirements for lighting outdoor environments.
