Free Webinar: Drawdown for residential housing, June 21, 11:30 am - 12:30 pm
Event Description
Project Drawdown’s mission is to help the world stop climate change—as quickly, safely, and equitably as possible. They do this by advancing effective, science-based climate solutions and strategies; fostering bold, new climate leadership; and promoting new climate narratives and new voices. How does this come into play in the housing sector?
Lessons Learned:
- Describe the concept of emissions sources and sinks, the point of drawdown, and the major sectors contributing to anthropogenic emissions.
- Describe how buildings contribute to emissions in each sector.
- Identify one technology or practice in each sector where buildings contribute to emissions that can significantly reduce these emissions.
- Contrast the concept of global net zero emissions with a building-level net zero metric.
Amanda is a researcher, energy analyst, and educator with expertise in creating and interpreting computer models of buildings and energy systems. She has experience in quantifying the relationships between energy use in buildings, weather and climate, energy costs, and emissions. Her professional career includes academic, national laboratory, and industry positions: She was an engineering professor at the University of Utah, a researcher at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory and team leader for other building simulation experts, and a senior energy analyst at construction industry consulting firm SOCOTEC USA.
