Free Webinar: Emergency Lighting
Event Description

"Egress" lighting – lighting sufficient for exiting a building safely - for both normal conditions as well as during an emergency, is required in every commercial, institutional and industrial building. Codes that regulate lighting vary depending on state and sometimes local project location. In this webinar devoted to emergency lighting, we address what California Title 24 says about egress lighting, including special exemptions. They will also review related standards such as fire protection, building code, and electric codes.

Recent changes to applicable lighting codes have had a big impact on emergency lighting approaches and lighting controls equipment. This webinar provides a detailed, comprehensive overview of how to comply with normal and emergency egress lighting requirements on a project in fixtures that operate both under normal conditions and in emergency conditions.

Objectives -

  • Identify the various codes and updates that affect requirements for both normal and emergency egress lighting
  • Use documents to verify compliance to egress light level requirements (i.e., computer calculations, etc.)
  • List the different sources of emergency power and evaluate different methods and equipment to provide it
  • Compare emergency lighting equipment that works with "unit" control devices to those using networked lighting control systems
