Event Description

Join Green Building United and GBU's 2024 Muscoe Martin Fellow, Yuto Morishita for a conversation on how Philadelphia can learn from other cities as we work towards prioritizing equity in decarbonization conversations.

This conversation will provide an overview of Morishita’s full report and will:

  • Examine the current state of energy burden in Philadelphia, identifying communities disproportionately affected by high energy costs.
  • Evaluate the existing energy policies and programs in Philadelphia, assessing their effectiveness in promoting energy efficiency and affordability.
  • Investigate the implementation of Building Performance Standards in other cities and regions, both domestically and internationally, to glean valuable insights and lessons learned.
  • Assess the potential impact of adopting stricter building requirements in Philadelphia, similar to those in leading cities.
