Explore the key updates and changes introduced in the 2024 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) as they relate to residential buildings. This course provides a detailed comparison between the 2024 editions of the IECC, highlighting new requirements, energy efficiency enhancements, and implications for residential construction projects.

Objectives:

  • Identify the specific sections and provisions within the 2024 IECC that directly impact residential buildings, including updates related to insulation, air sealing, and mechanical systems
  • Compare and contrast the energy performance requirements and standards outlined in the 2021 and 2024 editions of the code, focusing on changes in performance metrics and compliance pathways
  • Apply code-compliant insulation practices by identifying minimum insulation requirements
  • Calculate the required Energy Rating Index (ERI) score reduction necessary for buildings following the ERI compliance pathway compared to Table R406.5 standards as outlined in the code
