Every organization and everyone can submit to Rate It Green's green building calendar! Simply click register, verify your email address, and create a username and password. You can then decide if you'd like to engage more fully as a community member, but you'll be able to post events.

Event Description
Scientists are considering extreme conditions in their research and how materials used to design and construct our buildings are impacted by temperatures increasing, extreme water events and increasing humidity levels, and the challenge of fire and heat resulting from increasing wildland urban interface fires. Scientists will share their ongoing research into the impact of changing environmental conditions on the release of chemicals, unexpected chemical transformations, microbiological growth, and resulting fire emissions and residues. They will discuss how this research may translate into tools for the building community, offering a glimpse into the future of designing healthy and durable materials and buildings.

A Public Health scientist, Dr. Black is a leader in the study of environmental pollution and its impact on human health. Dr. Black founded the GREENGUARD Environmental Institute, a nonprofit organization that provides verification of chemical safe products. GREENGUARD has been instrumental in helping transform products to safer formulations for the betterment of the environment and human health.
Following research and teaching, Dr. Black founded Air Quality Sciences, Inc. (AQS,) a research company focused on measuring sources of indoor pollution and associated health effects. Dr. Black currently leads Chemical Insights Research Institute of Underwriters Laboratories Inc., a nonprofit organization, providing scientific insights for societal well-being.
