Intersectional Environmentalism Series: Working with Frontline Communities in California, June 30, 10 am PT 1 pm ET
Event Description
The buildings we create affect the communities and the environment they rest within. Join USGBC Northern California and USGBC Orange County on June 30th to explore best practices in working with frontline communities to support social equity and environmental justice.
What is Intersectional Environmentalism? In the words of activist and eco-communicator Leah Thomas (@greengirlleah): “This is an inclusive version of environmentalism that advocates for both the protection of people and the planet. It identifies the ways in which injustices happening to marginalized communities and the earth are interconnected. It brings injustices done to the most vulnerable communities, and the earth, to the forefront and does not minimize or silence social inequality. Intersectional environmentalism advocates for justice for people + the planet.”
