Making the Pitch: Selling High Performance Design, July 31, Chicago
Event Description

Join Illinois Green for a hybrid workshop that focuses on the language and resources that can be successfully leveraged to sell the concepts of high-performance design to a client.

This workshop will expand on a session from the Getting to Zero Summit 2023 that highlighted the need for additional education to help the AEC community improve their skills in discussing the importance of high performance goals in building design.

Hear from three diverse building industry perspectives on what language or tools they use when trying to push the envelope of sustainable design on any given project. Following the discussion forum, attendees will join in a small group activity to practice these new language skills with industry peers in order to get comfortable with “making the pitch.”

Participants can join in-person or virtually to view presentation and participate in the activity.

Learning Objectives:

  • Recognize the language different clientele resonate with to understand different types of return on investments.
  • Analyze numerous data points that are important to bring to the table when bringing up sustainability strategies in a design or systems layout.
  • Identify how to optimize on current financial incentives and tax credits both from local sources, as well as state and national.
  • Discuss with other attendees the best pitch for specific project audiences and learn from one another to create the best pitch for sustainable design and strategies.
