Every organization and everyone can submit to Rate It Green's green building calendar! Simply click register, verify your email address, and create a username and password. You can then decide if you'd like to engage more fully as a community member, but you'll be able to post events.
Please make sure to be respectful of the organizations and companies, and other Rate It Green members that make up our community. We welcome praise and advice and even criticism but all posted content and ratings should be constructive in nature. For guidance on what constitutes suitable content on the Rate It Green site, please refer to the User Agreement and Site Rules.
The opinions, comments, ratings and all content posted by member on the Rate It Green website are the comments and opinions of the individual members who posts them only and do not necessarily reflect the views or policies or policies of Rate It Green. Rate It Green Team Members will monitor posted content for unsuitable content, but we also ask for the participation of community members in helping to keep the site a comfortable and open public forum of ideas. Event Description
Green Building Alliance Members and 2030 District Partners are invited to tour the only LEED Gold certified sports facility in North America, home of the Pittsburgh Penguins—PPG Paints Arena. The Pittsburgh Penguins have joined Green Building Alliance’s Pittsburgh 2030 District and the Green Sports Alliance to continue reducing the Arena’s carbon emissions.
Hear from Vice President of Operations, Michael Stuever, about the challenges and successes of achieving a LEED Gold sports arena, as well as current operations and sustainability initiatives of PPG Paints Arena and the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The arena uses 40% less water than other sporting arenas
Natural lighting and high-efficiency ventilation have reduced energy use by 31%
High-efficiency water coolers and ammonia ice chillers help cut energy consumption
Fun Fact: The facility was ranked as the “Best NHL Arena” by Sports Business Journal in its first year of operation
