Yestermorrow Online Course, Healthy Building Materials, 4 Wednesday Sessions, 7-9 pm ET, May 1-31
Event Description
Healthy Building Materials will take a dive into the broken promise of the statement “better living through chemistry.”
Through assigned reading, case studies, videos and discussion,we will explore the effects of modern building products and household goods on our health.
This course will begin to connect the health crisis that is ever present in our lives to our built environment and explore alternatives that are healthier for people and the planet. The course will develop an awareness of the importance of choosing the most appropriate materials for our building projects, not only to help drawdown embodied carbon from our work, but also to choose healthy materials for both interior and exterior finishes.
The May 2023 course will run on Wednesday evenings from 7:00-9:00pm ET for a total of four (4) 2-hour sessions.
For courses starting between January 1 and March 31, 2023, we are piloting the Student Tuition Equity Program (STEP). The sliding scale is a tool that allows students to personally assess their ability to contribute and select the price point of tuition that will allow them to access our courses. This program requires honest and thoughtful consideration of the complexities of income, wealth, class, race, and other forms of inequity that affect an individual’s ability to pay. To determine your place on the scale, we encourage people to honestly assess their resources and consider the difference between a sacrifice and a hardship. To learn more, please click here.
