Strategic Energy, Sustainability & Climate Action Planning
Event Description

This workshop will provide an introduction to strategic planning frameworks for achieving sustainable energy goals.

We are at a tipping point in the call for climate action – organizations are now being required to act and implement change. This is in evidence with states recent “roadmap” efforts for long-term carbon reduction, the Transportation and Climate Initiative, newly enacted energy legislation at both the State and Federal levels and initiatives to regulate building carbon emissions at the municipal level.

Don’t get stuck playing catch-up—get ahead and start your planning now.

PowerOptions and the Green Ribbon Commission are partnering to offer this morning workshop for our members, to provide an introduction to strategic planning frameworks for achieving sustainable energy goals. The workshop will cover how to get started, setting goals, creating a plan and driving your organization through to implementation. You will hear from two organizations that have already successfully developed and implemented their plans and learn about their specific successes and challenges, how they determined resources, and what they did to get buy-in. Most importantly, they will discuss the lessons learned and what they would do differently.

During the workshop, participants will be divided into cohort working groups for breakout sessions, where you will get help developing and implementing the frameworks. And after this workshop, you will know how to:

  • Understand what a Strategic Energy Master Plan is and its benefits;
  • Learn about ways to get started on a Sustainability or Climate Action Plan;
  • Take action on implementing your plans, and
  • Determine goals and success metrics.
