$1M in Grants to Support 10 Climate Research projects at Harvard Univeristy

Ten research projects across six Harvard Schools will share over $1 million in the second round of grants awarded by the Climate Change Solutions Fund, an initiative launched in 2015 by President Drew Faust to encourage multidisciplinary research around climate change.

The funds will support Harvard professors and projects which seek to speed climate change solutions on the local, regional, and global levels. Projects range from grassroots organizing to working to deflect energy before it reaches the Earth's surface.

Professor Holly Samuelson, an assistant professor of architecture at the Harvard Graduate School of Design, is working with researcher Jose Guillermo Cedeño Laurent from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health on a project to use Harvard’s campus as a “living laboratory." The pair will attempts to find a better ways to measure the overall climate impact of existing buildings. Too understand - and measure- the role and expectations for occupant behavior, the project even involves wearable devices.
