Position Available - Green Infrastructure Program Manager - New York City

The New York City Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) protects public health and the environment by supplying clean drinking water, collecting and treating wastewater, and reducing air, noise, and hazardous materials pollution. DEP is the largest combined municipal water and wastewater utility in the country, with nearly 6,000 employees. We deliver 1.1 billion gallons of high quality drinking water per day to 8.5 million New York City residents and more than 1 million people in Upstate New York, and we collect and treat an average of 1.3 billion gallons of wastewater per day.
The Bureau of Environmental Planning and Analysis (BEPA) seeks to hire an Administrative Construction Program Manager MII to work as a Program Manager for the Office of Ecosystem Services, Green Infrastructure and Research & Development, located in Queens, NY. Under the administrative direction of the Managing Director of the Office of Ecosystem Services, Green Infrastructure and Research & Development , the applicant will, with extremely wide latitude for the exercise of independent judgment, initiative and action, perform extremely difficult, responsible and complex work in the planning, coordinating and oversight of the development and progress of major green infrastructure capital projects. The applicant must have the ability to properly direct staff of project management professionals engaged in managing the timely and cost-effective implementation of major green infrastructure capital projects, be able to direct and coordinate the oversight of major capital construction projects from conceptual initiation to final completion, ensure scientific input into plans and projects; help facilitate research planning in order to identify and establish additional research partnership opportunities and the required flexibility to co-lead a team of design reviewers and field construction staff to develop new techniques and designs that can improve function and better quantify overall green infrastructure performance.
Typical tasks will include:
• Coordinating and managing the planning and oversight of the development and progress of major green infrastructure capital projects.
• Direct staff of project management professionals engaged in managing the timely and cost-effective implementation of major green infrastructure capital projects from conceptual initiation to final completion.
• Coordinate with multiple green infrastructure design teams and construction project staff
• Support Managing Director to coordinate and manage additional ecological and innovative cost-effective green infrastructure performance enhancement opportunities
• Assemble and update green infrastructure specifications as needed
• Sign on-site green infrastructure construction plans
