WELL Certification Standard

Hello Allison and all I was able to meet during USGBC Greenbuild! For those of us who work primarily within the Indoor Environmental Quality arena, I am excited to see the WELL Building Standard gaining so much speed in the marketplace. As a building service contractor who typically contributes to LEED project by less than 10%, in the latest WELL certification IEQ is the core of the standard.

Drop me a line if you have any specific questions about our involvement with the beta projects and how this latest criteria is raising the bar beyond LEED OM. Just FYI our current clients are abandoning their LEED projects midstream and switching over to achieve WELL. https://www.wellcertified.com/well

Hi Jason, and thanks. It was great to see you at Greenbuild, and also great that we can continue conversations online! That's what this resource is for, of course. I am excited about the apparent convergence in recent years between thinking about buildings that can have less impact on human health (or perhaps a positive impact) as well as a lower environmental footprint. Since we sped about 90% of our time indoors and buildings are becoming more airtight, I agree we have got to think about IEQ and related issues more.

That's interesting about standards/certifications and choice - I have been eager to learn more about the harmonization project and other collaborative efforts I have been hearing about between some organizations and standards. I believe those who are researching and looking to buy green building products and services will appreciate some simplification. Even for those who are expert, it can be confusing across industry segments - and it's hard to be expert at everything.

So true! It is unfortunate to see most departments still have a disconnect with how they impact/benefit sustainability efforts within their organization. However, with the WELL Building Standards human capital becomes the forefront of decisions to ensure wellbeing of a company's greatest asset! Exciting times.

Cheers :-)
