Clean Energy Tour of Kingston, MA’s Wind Turbines, Farm, Recycling, and Grant Program, Nov 4, Kingston, MA
Event Description
Join MCAN for a clean energy tour of the town of Kingston, MA
Kingston has a renewable energy grant program that is really innovative and might work in your town. Who doesn't like to give away money? The town sells a portion of the electricity from the solar and wind on the landfill, and use the money to fund local projects. Kingston also has increased its recycling rates after having one of the lowest on the South Shore. They coordinated the improvements to their recycling system to make a capped landfill wind project possible.
Ready to be inspired about actions your own town might be able to take to be more green? Learn from your peer’s experience with our Kingston clean energy tour.
When: 10 am - 1 pm with an optional lunch 1-2pm
Meet at the Kingston train station at 10 am
See the windmills on the capped landfill and learn about how the town collaborated to get them up and running
Tour an organic farm that grows food for local restaurants and makes much of their own electricity on site
See the re-design of the town’s recycling center and Renewable Energy Grant Program
Finally, an optional lunch at the Charlie Horse Restaurant which boasts on-site solar, composting, and locally sourced food
