The Debate Over Foam
Posted by: NobleHome // Affordable, passive solar, easy to build kit houses
Since Noble Home's inception we've been using foam-insulated SIPs to build the shell of our homes. This has always been a compromise, since foam isn't as environmentally friendly as we'd like and there are no options on the market that use recycled foam.
We're investigating creating our own SIPs to use in future Noble Homes and would love to hear your thoughts. Are you foam-averse? Would you prefer a greener material, such as mineral wool? What do you feel about a wood frame versus a light-gauge steel frame?
Please comment here or send us an email to info@noble-home.net, your thoughts will help shape our walls!

Hi NobleHome! Great question - I also posted this (separately) under Products-Insulation so we can bring people outside of Massachusetts into the discussion a little more easily. You can "parallel post" a discussion and it will show elsewhere, but to post on something that was posted in a group, the person needs to be a group member (I will switch that default to make it choose the discussion outside the group, but we don't hav that yet). So I think that post within Insulation may be helpful as well. I don't want to create two separate discussions if tat's messy for you, but I also didn't want to exclude people outside of MA.
