Event Description

Home Design (Online)

This course teaches students how to design a home and communicate that design through floor plans, sections, elevations, and a scale model. Through conversation, lectures, and presentations we explore such issues as site planning, climatic design, sustainability, building layout, structural principles, materials, energy conservation, solar strategies, and what makes a building a beautiful expression of its occupant's lifestyle. The class virtually tours homes to view original, creative, and traditional design concepts. Students learn the fundamentals of a design process that they can apply to their individual projects.
