Petition: Ask Governor Christie to hold Exxon fully accountable for oil spills, clean ups

Stand with Environment America and Environment New Jersey behind this petition:
"New Jersey has been fighting Exxon in the courts for decades over the damages it’s done to natural resources, but your proposed settlement effectively lets these polluters off the hook. Please hold Exxon fully accountable by withdrawing from the weak agreement you submitted to the court and demanding that Exxon pay for the all the damage it has caused."
New Jersey sued Exxon in 2004 over the contamination of 1,000+ acres of land in Bayonne and Linden, where the company had refineries. The state originally sought $8.9 billion in damages, but in February announced it had agreed to a $225 million settlement. (That's a big difference!!)
